A viral video showcasing a phenomenal trivela pass by Ibrahim Musah, fondly known as Teyshie, during a casual game with Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, has sparked a wave of interest.
The video highlights Teyshie's exceptional talent, leaving many wondering why he isn't playing professionally. The answer, unfortunately, lies in a story of a promising career cut short by injury.
Abdul Rashid Zakari, Teyshie's childhood friend and former roommate, shared the footballer's bittersweet story on social media (formerly Twitter).
Rashid describes Teyshie as a cerebral player, relying more on strategy and vision than raw physicality. He idolized Thierry Henry but possessed a playing style reminiscent of the legendary Zinedine Zidane.
Teyshie's talent shone at Kingdoko FC, a now-defunct Division 1 side. He was their star player, attracting interest from Ghana Premier League clubs like Hearts of Lions. Despite strong interest from Lions, Kingdoko inexplicably refused to release Teyshie, much to the disappointment of Nima's football community.
Teyshie's career took a tragic turn when he suffered a severe shin injury during a league game. The injury, similar to what Eduardo Da Silva experienced at Arsenal, required multiple surgeries to rectify.
"The initial treatment didn't fuse the bones properly," explained Rashid. "They had to break his leg again to fix it for him to walk normally now."
While Teyshie recovered physically, his past injury deterred professional clubs from taking a chance on him. He had brief stints in Saudi Arabia and the USA before ultimately retiring.
Ibrahim Musah 'Teyshie' may not have reached the heights his talent promised, but within Nima, he remains a legend – a testament to raw ability and the harsh realities that can sometimes sideline exceptional footballers.
