Nana Akomea has taken a swipe at the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin for rejecting a Supreme Court writ to stay his decision of making four seats namely Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena and Suhum vacant following their parliamentary representatives' indication to contest the December 7 election as independent candidate or choosing to change their political affiliation.
The Speaker directed the return of the court documents served by bailiffs on the Parliamentary Service, citing constitutional immunity under Article 117 of the 1992 Constitution.
He communicated his dissent through an official letter addressed to the Supreme Court stating "the attached processes which were left at the Legal Services Office of the Parliamentary Service by three bailiffs of the Court on Wednesday, 16th October 2024, are hereby returned".
"The Rt. Hon. Speaker has directed the return of the attached processes for your necessary action", the letter concluded.
But Nana Akomea finds the Speaker's behavior as "unruly".
"You are being unruly", he said, stressing "the Supreme Court has the final say on law".
The Deputy Chairman of Vice President Bawumia's campaign team cum Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport, Nana Akomea admonished the Speaker to obey the Supreme Court to avoid jeopardizing Ghana's democracy.
