Mike Ocquaye Jnr. To Contest Dome-Kwabenya Parliamentary Seat Again

The Chief Executive Office of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Mike Ocquaye Junior has dsiclosed his intention to contest the Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary seat again when nominations open.

He disclosed in an exclusive interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' programme Tuesday morning.

"I want to inform the people of Dome-Kwabenya through your medium that as soon as there is the opening for picking up forms and filing of nomination, I Mike Ocquaye Jnr. will stand to represent the people Dome-Kwabenya," he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Then Ghana's High Commissioner to India, Lawyer Mike Ocquaye Jnr lost the Dome-Kwabenya constituency seat to incumbent Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo who was also a deputy Majority Leader in Parliament in the 2020 primaries.

The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya had a total vote of 496 while lawyer Mike Ocquaye Jnr had 488 votes.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that the parliamentary primaries for its 174 constituencies with representation in parliament will be held on January 20, 2024.

“Nomination shall open on 20th December, 2023, and close on 22nd December, 2023. The Party shall soon issue detailed guidelines to govern the conduct of the primaries in these Constituencies,” part of the statement, which was issued by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Frimpong Koduah, reads.

The party also announced that it will be holding the party’s parliamentary primaries for constituencies without representation in parliament (orphan constitutes) on December 2, 2023.
