Anti Gay Bill: Supreme Court Grants Richard Sky Permission to File New Motion.

The Supreme Court has granted Richard Dela Sky permission to amend portions of his reliefs seeking an interlocutory injunction against the passage of the anti LGBTQ+ Bill.

The permission was granted after lawyer Paa Kwesi Abaidoo representing Richard Sky prayed the court to grant them permission to amend their reliefs.

Their request also includes leave to file supplementary affidavits.

The prayer for amendment was however objected to by lawyer Thaddeus Sory representing the Speaker of Parliament.

He argued that, the amendment will negate his affidavit in opposition but did not oppose to the request for leave to file supplementary affidavits.

Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney General did not oppose to the request to amend the errors but opposed to the request to file a supplementary affidavit.

The five member panel of the Supreme Court chaired by the Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo in response to the Speaker's lawyer said his objection was unnecessary.

The court then granted lawyers for Sky to make the amendments and also directed both the Attorney General and lawyer for the Speaker of Parliament to file their affidavit in opposition by May 17.

In a related development , the Supreme Court has also directed Thaddeus Sory, lawyer for the Speaker of Parliament to amend his affidavit in opposition to a suit filed by Dr Amanda Odoi citing inappropriate language as the basis.
